Racism I Found Today: Non-Black Version of “The Talk”

I’m late hearing about this terrible and blatantly racist article.  It’s written as a response to recent articles about “the talk” that black parents have with their kids, especially Black Boys, in light of the Trayvon Martin murder.  Clutch summed it up very well…

“National Review’s John Derbyshire says there is a talk that non-black Americans have with their children about race too. Derbyshire wrote about this in his post The Talk: Non-Black Version where he describes the racist views that he has instilled in his own children.

The outrageous content of his blog has many calling for him to be fired.

Here are 9 points he shares that every White parent should tell their children:

  • Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.
  • Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods.
  • If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).
  • Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.
  • If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.
  • Do not settle in a district or municipality run by black politicians.
  • Before voting for a black politician, scrutinize his/her character much more carefully than you would a white.
  • Do not act the Good Samaritan to blacks in apparent distress, e.g., on the highway.
  • If accosted by a strange black in the street, smile and say something polite but keep moving.”

In my opinion, the most horrible point he makes in the article is…

(11) The mean intelligence of blacks is much lower than for whites. The least intelligent ten percent of whites have IQs below 81; forty percent of blacks have IQs that low. Only one black in six is more intelligent than the average white; five whites out of six are more intelligent than the average black. These differences show in every test of general cognitive ability that anyone, of any race or nationality, has yet been able to devise. They are reflected in countless everyday situations. “Life is an IQ test.”

It’s ridiculous.   To talk about IQs in this way makes him sound like a 1920s eugenicist.  It’s Asinine.  Big word for a black person. Yeah, I know.  If I was crazy enough to really entertain some hard facts and numbers from this writer, they would have tp come paired with empirical research on the impact of institutional racism, failing schools, low expectations, etc.  He states this point like it’s a fact.  For the link “in every test” he links to his own website like he is a scholar on the subject.    The URL has Opinion in the string ( because it’s just that.  His personal racist opinion.  No one should take this writer seriously.

Anyway, this is the most racist thing I’ve seen…today.

Note: “Derbyshire’s editor at the conservative publication National ReviewRich Lowry, described the piece as “appalling.”[17] On April 7, Lowry announced that Derbyshire had been dismissed from National Review: “We never would have published it, but the main reason that people noticed it is that it is by a National Review writer. Derb is effectively using our name to get more oxygen for views with which we’d never associate ourselves otherwise. So there has to be a parting of the ways.”[18]” – source

Missy Ann Coulter Allegedly Owns Slaves

I’m not surprised that Ann Coulter said “our blacks are so much better than their blacks” when she  appeared on Sean Hannity’s show on Monday (video below).  I’m not shocked by the uproar that has ensued.    She didn’t back down from her comments when HLN’s Joy Behar asked her about it on Tuesday. I’m not shocked by that either.  Ann Coulter is a straight up, tell you to your face BIGOT.  She’s been that way for years.  She’s been saying the same type of racist garbage for years.  The shock is that..

A. People are shocked by her most recent comments in light of what she’s said in the past.

B. Networks like Fox and HLN still give this bigot a podium.

When I heard her comments from the Fox broadcast I wanted to say, “Oh, so Missy Ann is a pundit now?!?!”.  Really?  Do you own blacks, Ann?  How many Negroes do you own?  How long have you been the mistress of the plantation?

Dear African-American Republicans, You need to take off the watermelon suits and tap dancing shoes and listen to what the party really thinks about us.  Yes, US.  Don’t act like you’re special because you get to live in the house and master thinks you’re smart…for a negro.  Yes, that’s right.  Not as smart as ole masta, but smarter than those Democratic field coons.

Oh, you don’t think that is what is actually being said?  Well, then I think the Republicans surely “own” the right blacks for the job.  So many of America’s politicians are “owned” by corporations and special interests that I guess you guys would say “At least we got some Good white folks.”.

Yall betta run on.  I hear Missy Ann uh calling.

Thoughts on the Casey Anthony Trail aka. Sit Down, Nancy Grace!

I didn’t get into the Casey Anthony Trial too much.  I thought it was a tragedy on many different levels, and the media circus just turned me off.  I cared, but there are hundred of children who are killed, molested, etc. everyday and no one is putting their stories on the cover of magazines, or dedicating whole broadcasts to their memory.  American Hypocrisy…we’re all guilty.

Anyway.  Every child is precious.  That’s my point.

Now…on the Casey Anthony Trial, I have these points;

  • Casey Anthony Defense Attorney Flips Off Media Following Verdict – BWAHAHAHAH!  Too funny.
  • If you say the defendant was a party girl, then you must have proof that will stand up against a whole gang of witnesses who say she was a good mother.  You have to have proof.  Remember.  Law school and all.  Sigh…
  • I believe the allegations of sexual molestation against George Anthony.  I think the grandfather may have been touching Caylee.  Don’t be fooled by old age and a suit people.  I think some sick shit was going on that family.  Casey needs some help.  Remember victims are more prone to stay victims.  Also, you never know what a woman will do to protect her child.  Some slave women would rather kill their children than let them be taken.  You think a woman who’d been molested and was mentally disturbed wouldn’t consider taking her child’s life instead of seeing her be abused?
  • Why didn’t the prosecutor go for manslaughter in the first place?
  • Why was the prosecutor laughing during the closing arguments?  I KNOW that didn’t help his case in the eyes of the jury.
  • Who paid for Casey Anthony’s defense?  I know old boy was expensive.
  • Did prosecutor Ashton think he was going to make a name for himself with this case?  You know the answer is yes.
  • Oh, I was cracking up when the judge called the guy up to the front who flipped bird.  That was funny.
  • Why are people even wondering what would have happened if she was black?  This is not the O.J. Trail, people!  There have been a lot of public cases of white women killing their kids.  Some go to jail, some have gotten off on mental illness.  This is not new.  There is racism in America, and we know this.  Thank goodness we didn’t have to witness a black family in this particular drama.
  • I think Nancy Grace has reached a new level of bitch-assed-ness?  She is just a pundit for profit, in my opinion.  I really don’t think she genuinely cares.  Think of all the people she really could help.  Nope, just a TV personality.  I don’t know why people expect her to be on the level of a real lawyer who is practicing the law.

Well, that’s all I have to say about that.  What do you guys think?

Things Still Untouched by Gentrification in DC

1. “The Shrimp Boat” in NE.

2. Fat Face Bar-B-Que – I see a white person or two in there from time to time, but hey that’s always been the case.  Who doesn’t love delicious soul food?

3. The Open Mic Scene on U Street – The whole sad, non-rhyming white poetry thing hasn’t over taken the “Def Poetry Jam” style of most black poetry.

4. Go-Go Music

5. Marshall Heights – I don’t care how many condos they tried to put over there.  Still Marshall Heights.

6. Minnesota Ave Metro station at night

7. Horace and Dickie’s – Until they sell fried tofu or an avocado and fish sandwich…they are untouched.  LOL

8. Safeway in Petworth – All I can say is yuck.

9. The Homelessness Problem has not improved – Shouldn’t it get better with gentrification?

10. Single Black Women complaining about not being able to find a good man – What about all these good, employed white boys walking around, sis?

This is not a comprehensive list.  So much more could be said.  Wash DC people, what would you add to this list.

Update: I stand corrected.  The Shrimp Boat IS in NE. I placed it in SE.  My bad, Yall!

Gentrification: White where there was no White in Chocolate City.

Swirl or Twist.  That’s what most ice cream, frozen custard, or frozen yogurt places call it when your vanilla and chocolate frozen goodness is twirled together in harmony.  Yummy.

That isn’t Gentrification.  It displaces people and cultures.  Fault should not be laid on the persons staking their claim in areas previous devoid of Caucasian population.  Really, it’s just politics and finance.

I wrote about this a few years back and now TBD (ABC 7/Newschannel8) has quoted me.  I’m flattered.

“I rarely see an African American face enjoying the coffee culture,” Hello, Negro wrote shortly after the shop’s opening. “Maybe the long term residents aren’t into Rishi Tea. Maybe the crackheads hanging out in the LeDroit Park Playground across the street are too amazed at the sight of this former-corner store turned soho style coffee establishment to inquire about the fine pastries. The juxtapositioning is striking. The locals call it LeDroit, they call it ‘Bloomingdale.’”

Honestly, gentrification in Washington, DC as I’ve seen in the last 11 years has been very entertaining to watch.  From avid runners out at the crack of dawn avoiding crack heads (3 months ago, I saw this white guy jogging down Michigan Ave NE barefoot.  No lie.  Crazy.) to white women walking home from the metro late at night in neighborhoods I wouldn’t roller skate through, there is a lot to observe.  I think of it as my own little reality tv show featuring short pieces on gentrification.  We’ll at least there are grocery stores, improved metro stations, and improved housing (that most can’t afford) where there were none.

So, We’re All Ugly Just Because Some People Aren’t Into Black Chicks?

Personal Opinion is not fact.  Asking men about their preferences when it comes to women and attaching some pseudoscience to it doesn’t make your research air tight.  I need someone to explain the concept of opinion polls to the blogger over at Psychology Today who had the audacity to try to pass his bias off as science.  The title of the blog post I’m talking about is “Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women? Why black women, but not black men?”. Psychology Today has since taken the post down, but you can read it here.  You can read more about this here as well.

Here’s an excerpt:

What accounts for the markedly lower average level of physical attractiveness among black women? Black women are on average much heavier than nonblack women. The mean body-mass index (BMI) at Wave III is 28.5 among black women and 26.1 among nonblack women. (Black and nonblack men do not differ in BMI: 27.0 vs. 26.9.) However, this is not the reason black women are less physically attractive than nonblack women. Black women have lower average level of physical attractiveness net of BMI. Nor can the race difference in intelligence (and the positive association between intelligence and physical attractiveness) account for the race difference in physical attractiveness among women. Black women are still less physically attractive than nonblack women net of BMI and intelligence. Net of intelligence, black men are significantly more physically attractive than nonblack men.

There are many biological and genetic differences between the races. However, such race differences usually exist in equal measure for both men and women. For example, because they have existed much longer in human evolutionary history, Africans have more mutations in their genomes than other races. And the mutation loads significantly decrease physical attractiveness (because physical attractiveness is a measure of genetic and developmental health). But since both black women and black men have higher mutation loads, it cannot explain why only black women are less physically attractive, while black men are, if anything, more attractive.

The only thing I can think of that might potentially explain the lower average level of physical attractiveness among black women is testosterone. Africans on average have higher levels of testosterone than other races, and testosterone, being an androgen (male hormone), affects the physical attractiveness of men and women differently. Men with higher levels of testosterone have more masculine features and are therefore more physically attractive. In contrast, women with higher levels of testosterone also have more masculine features and are therefore less physically attractive. The race differences in the level of testosterone can therefore potentially explain why black women are less physically attractive than women of other races, while (net of intelligence) black men are more physically attractive than men of other races.

Personally, I’m outraged about this.  Not surprised, but outraged.  Black women birth black babies and further the black race.  Thus, “they” must attack, berate, and abuse us in the media or otherwise.  Don’t believe me?  Google “Michelle Obama”.

There is also a long history of psychology research focusing on the suggested inferiority of Black people.  Has history taught us nothing?  It has taught us to know racist and eugenic talk from the psychological community a mile a way.

To the author:
You might as well use “negroid” or “ape-like” in your piece, Mr. Kanazawa.  “The only thing I can think of…”, you say??  That sounds like you are trying to pass off your opinions as fact.  Beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder.  Just say that you don’t find black women attractive and that your opinion is shared by some other men.  This is America and we have the right to voice or opinions.  We all know what color Barbie is and that the European standard of beauty is the STANDARD.  You as an Asian man know the struggles that Asian women go through trying to conform.  As a person of color, you should realize how people of color in America see themselves differently than how those outside of their race see them.

Black women are not less attractive, as your title states.  Opinion is just opinion.  Men just like what they like.  As an old song said, “If you don’t like it, don’t knock it.   Somebody else might wanna rock it.”

Black Women Opening Up to the Idea of Dating White Men

When I first arrived in DC, I would say that it was extremely rare to see an interracial couple composed of a Black Woman and a White Man.  An Oddity of sorts.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m all for it.  Other than a few visions of Master/Slave forced relations that pop into my head at the initial thought, I think it’s a win win.

In the last 2 years, on the streets of DC, I’ve noticed a huge rise in the number of Black Women and White Men I see coupled up.  I’m talking young, old, professional, yuppies, bohos, BMW drivers, and pickup truck enthusiasts.  Blacks and whites of all different strata.  I know Essence did an article on this topic maybe a year ago, so maybe people took that as a permission slip.  I’m just wondering, Hello Negro family, if you’re seeing what I’m seeing and what you think about it? Does this form of interracial dating carry the stigma that Black Man/White Woman dating does for some in the African American community?

Honestly, I’m real tried to hearing the “I can’t find a man” swan song from African-American professional women who have never tried online dating or interracial dating (two things I usually recommend when I hear people bitching about their singleness).  Time to get down with the swirl, Ladies.

What if Michelle Obama said half the stuff Christine O’Donnell said?

Can you imagine what would happen if Michelle Obama said that she studied witchcraft…But it’s ok…because she never actually joined a coven?  Fox News would have a field day.  Most evangelicals equate Wiccans with Satanists, but an admission like this might be considered minor.  You see, I’m almost sure many of them consider being a Muslim as far worse that either.  Just my opinion. Maybe that’s why they aren’t tripping about comments made years ago by Senate Candidate Christine O’Donnell on “Politically Incorrect”.

If the First Lady ever admitted practicing Voodoo or dabbling in Islam or considering Athiesm…It would be ON and poppin…like popcorn!  LOL

I just love this quote from Bill Maher – “It’s funny to me, Chris, because this is the woman who claimed on another one of our ‘Politically Incorrect’ episodes from the ’90s that she would not lie, even in the case of hiding Anne Frank in her attic,” Maher told Matthews. “Eddie Izzard confronted her and said, ‘Really? If Hitler was at the door and you had Anne Frank in the attic, you wouldn’t lie?’ She said, ‘No. God would find a way.’ ” Now that is good TV!  Crazy with a side of oblivious.

Hopefully, God will find a way for the people of Delaware to have proper representation.  In my opinion Christine could make far more money as an entertaining pundit.  Look at Sister Sarah P.  She’s gangsta…the Lil Kim of Pundits.

Gerry Hudson’s remarks: Is he correct?

A C-SPAN clip of SEIU Executive Vice President Gerry Hudson is circulating online.  In it he says something controversial about how one can move African-Americans to care more about immigration reform.

“On white workers, I think we got some real problems. I’ve spent a lot of time in Wisconsin and places like that, where I have heard some of the most anti-immigrant sentiments around. It’s also, and this is where you get the black workers first, it’s so f***ing rabidly racist, ’til black people get scared. They don’t just mean you, right? So, you can organize them quicker, like, look at what’s there.”

A number of right-wing themed sites are pushing this clip viral.  They seem to think that he’s calling black people gullible and that he’s demonizing good, working class white folk.  Hudson is a big, black, bald-headed man.  The fact that he cussed alone likely made some people uncomfortable.  LOL

It’s no secret the rhetoric that follows immigration reform can be laced with images and concepts that make blacks and jews very uncomfortable.  Racial profiling is what it is, but any thought of  laws that require people to have proper documentation…makes me think of South Africa.   If you suggest racist motives and connect with the black experience of American racism…sure, you’ll motivate some people.

However, there is also an economic and social side (access to social services and the strain on local governments) to immigration reform that blacks may have concerns over.  Let’s face it, some black people are as concerned as some whites with the idea of Hispanics “taking over” America.  Just ask someone who grew up in Dade County or Miami Florida about needed to be bi-lingual to get a job.  I’m not saying that it’s right…I’m just saying.

Readers, take a look for yourself and tell me what you think.

New Poll Finds Tea Partiers a Smidge More Racist

Ok, maybe a lot more than a smidge.  Arian Campo-Flores of Newsweek reports in an article posted today, that people who approve of the  Tea Party movement tend to have more racist attitudes.  This lil tidbit is very telling: ” Only 35 percent of those who strongly approve of the Tea Party agreed that blacks are hard-working, compared to 55 percent of those who strongly disapprove of the Tea Party.”  Wow…only 55% of blacks are hard-working.  I’m sure that percentage is up from when…1965??  Oh yeah, we were only hard working pre-1865.  With emancipation our productivity went way down.  I wonder why…hmmm.

So a new poll by researchers at the University of Washington caught my eye. The findings are sure to fan the flames further. “People who approve of the Tea Party, more than those who don’t approve, have more racist attitudes,” says Christopher Parker, a University of Washington professor who directed the survey. “And not only that, but more homophobic and xenophobic attitudes.” For instance,  respondents were asked whether they agreed with various characterizations of different racial groups. Only 35 percent of those who strongly approve of the Tea Party agreed that blacks are hard-working, compared to 55 percent of those who strongly disapprove of the Tea Party. On whether blacks were intelligent, 45 percent of the Tea Party supporters agreed, compared to 59 percent of the Tea Party opponents. And on the issue of whether blacks were trustworthy, 41 percent of the Tea Party supporters agreed, compared to 57 percent of the Tea Party opponents.

The survey, which included about 1,000 respondents in six battleground states (like Michigan and Nevada) and California, found similar margins on questions regarding Latinos. And Tea Party supporters were far more likely than opponents to say that immigrants take jobs from people living here (59 percent agreed with that statement), that immigration from foreign countries should be decreased (53 percent agreed), and that undocumented immigrants in the U.S. should be deported immediately (45 percent agreed).

More fuel for the unproductive divisions that are the legacy of sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc in America.  I’ll have to see how Fox and Right Wing pundits spin these numbers.
