New Poll Finds Tea Partiers a Smidge More Racist

Ok, maybe a lot more than a smidge.  Arian Campo-Flores of Newsweek reports in an article posted today, that people who approve of the  Tea Party movement tend to have more racist attitudes.  This lil tidbit is very telling: ” Only 35 percent of those who strongly approve of the Tea Party agreed that blacks are hard-working, compared to 55 percent of those who strongly disapprove of the Tea Party.”  Wow…only 55% of blacks are hard-working.  I’m sure that percentage is up from when…1965??  Oh yeah, we were only hard working pre-1865.  With emancipation our productivity went way down.  I wonder why…hmmm.

So a new poll by researchers at the University of Washington caught my eye. The findings are sure to fan the flames further. “People who approve of the Tea Party, more than those who don’t approve, have more racist attitudes,” says Christopher Parker, a University of Washington professor who directed the survey. “And not only that, but more homophobic and xenophobic attitudes.” For instance,  respondents were asked whether they agreed with various characterizations of different racial groups. Only 35 percent of those who strongly approve of the Tea Party agreed that blacks are hard-working, compared to 55 percent of those who strongly disapprove of the Tea Party. On whether blacks were intelligent, 45 percent of the Tea Party supporters agreed, compared to 59 percent of the Tea Party opponents. And on the issue of whether blacks were trustworthy, 41 percent of the Tea Party supporters agreed, compared to 57 percent of the Tea Party opponents.

The survey, which included about 1,000 respondents in six battleground states (like Michigan and Nevada) and California, found similar margins on questions regarding Latinos. And Tea Party supporters were far more likely than opponents to say that immigrants take jobs from people living here (59 percent agreed with that statement), that immigration from foreign countries should be decreased (53 percent agreed), and that undocumented immigrants in the U.S. should be deported immediately (45 percent agreed).

More fuel for the unproductive divisions that are the legacy of sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc in America.  I’ll have to see how Fox and Right Wing pundits spin these numbers.

Obama is NOT the Anti-Christ, He’s Black and That’s the Problem

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Political correctness, be damned!  All of the racists and bigots out there need to just take it back to 1960 and call the President the N-Word!  I’m tired of the re-directing.  Stop coming up with random titles and false charges to apply to this man.  You are mad because the President of the United States is a Black man. Period. You are afraid.  You are outraged that a Black person has that much power.  You are a closeted racist and you know who you are.  You are so bold and you are so sure you’re right, why do you hide your true feelings?

LiveScience.com – Americans have some extreme views of President Obama, with a new survey revealing 40 percent of adults believe he is a socialist, and about a quarter of survey participants thinking the president is a racist, anti-American and even doing things Hitler did.

The whammy: 14 percent of Americans say President Barack Obama may be the Antichrist. When split by political party, 24 percent of Republicans and 6 percent of Democrats viewed the nation’s leader in this way.

The results come from a Harris Poll involving 2,320 adults who were surveyed online between March 1 and March 8 by Harris Interactive, a market research firm. Respondents were selected from among those who agreed to participate in Harris Interactive surveys. The results were then weighted to reflect the composition of the U.S. adult population. [Infographic Compares Views]

Here’s the percentage breakdown of respondents’ views of President Obama:

  • 38 percent say he wants to take away Americans’ right to own guns.
  • 32 percent say he is a Muslim.
  • 29 percent think he wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one world government.
  • 29 percent think he has done many things that are unconstitutional.
  • 27 percent say he resents America’s heritage.
  • 27 percent say he does what Wall Street and the bankers tell him to do.
  • 25 percent say he was not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president.
  • 25 percent say he is a domestic enemy that the U.S. Constitutions speaks of.
  • 23 percent say he is a racist.
  • 23 percent say he is anti-American.
  • 23 percent say he wants to use an economic collapse or terrorist attack as an excuse to take dictatorial powers.
  • 20 percent say he is doing many of the things that Hitler did.

When broken out by political party, results showed some stark differences. For instance, the majority of Republicans believed the president is a Muslim and a socialist, while around 40 percent believe he is a racist, someone who resents American heritage and “wants terrorists to win.”

Hitler?  Really?  Where is this sentiment coming from? Why do people hold these false, extreme beliefs? Because in politically correct, “post-racial”  America you can’t just say, “I don’t like the President because he’s a nigger and I don’t like/trust/serve/deal with niggers!”.  Say it.  Start saying it pundits!   Start saying Fox News!  Start saying it Tea Party members!  Join those who are very open with their racist views and don’t hide behind politics.  Be honest and stop this ridiculous posturing. You  go around calling the President and Congress liars and crooks but you yourself hide your real intentions. Trust me, your fellow Americans would prefer to know who they are REALLY dealing with and hearing from.

I would much rather know that you’re a bigot than have you smile in my face or be dishonest about it.  Go ahead, call a spade a spade.

Most of the Black superdelegates with Obama

Senator Barack Obama now holds a majority of all black superdelegates, according to a new tally. More than half of all African American superdelegates (52 percent) say they will support the Illinois senator, while just under a third say they support Senator Hillary Clinton (31 percent). Almost 17 percent of African American superdelegates are still “uncommitted.”

The information comes from a newly published tally of African American superdelegates, released this morning by The Daily Voice.

umm….

Am I supposed to be surprised?  No one in office wants to be the black politician who didn’t support Obama in case he wins.  Duh!

Multilingual poll of Black, Hispanic and Asian Americans uncovers serious tensions

New American Media/Washington, DC – The first multilingual poll of Black, Hispanic and Asian Americans has uncovered serious tensions among these ethnic groups, including mistrust and significant stereotyping, but a majority of each group also said they should put aside differences and work together to better their communities. The poll, which was release during a news conference at the National Press Club, was sponsored by New America Media (NAM) and nine ethnic media outlets who are founding members of the organization.

“This extraordinary poll reveals some unflattering realities that exist in America today,” said Sandy Close, Executive Editor and Director of NAM, the nation’s first and largest collaboration of ethnic news media. “The sponsors of the poll strongly believe the best way to move forward is by identifying the problems and initiating a dialogue that can bring ethnic groups closer together in their fight for equality and against discrimination.”

Broadly, the poll of 1,105 African-American, Asian-American and Hispanic adults found that the predominantly immigrant populations – Hispanics and Asians – expressed far greater optimism about their lives in America, concluding that hard work is rewarded in this society. By contrast, more than 60% of the African Americans polled do not believe the American Dream works for them. Blacks also described themselves as “more segregated from the rest of America than the other groups.”

The poll found that friction between ethnic and racial groups, which at times has erupted into highly-publicized incidents around the country, is clearly rooted in the mistrust that the groups harbor towards each other, as well as the sentiment that other groups are mistreating them or are detrimental to their own future. 37% of Black People Aren’t Black Anymore

I didn’t get this memo…and I doubt White America got it either. LOL Juan Williams reports in his column (www.sacbee.com)…

Conventional wisdom about black America is being turned on its head. Nearly two out of five black people (37 percent) surveyed in a new Pew poll, done in association with NPR, said that blacks “can no longer be thought of as a single race.”

Only half of all black people in the country (53 percent) say it is possible to think of blacks as one race. And young black Americans – ages 18 to 29 – are more likely than older blacks to say that blacks are no longer a single race.

The growing perception of two races is really a divide over values.

More than half of all Americans – people of all colors – believe that the values of poor and middle-class blacks are becoming more different. When the question is limited to black people, the answer is even more definitive: 61 percent say values are now more different between middle-class and poor blacks. The perception of a class divide in black America has increased nearly 20 points since a similar question was asked of black people in 1986.

So, in a nutshell, middle class blacks feel they are so disconnected to “lower” class, poorer blacks that they want to be defined (self-define) as a separate race?  What?  As if we needed another reason for division.  It’s a good article…read the rest here.
